This kind of infection is treatable without the need of hospital confinement if you are able to detect it early. There is what we call home remedies. Here are some things to do if you suspect that you have UTI or any other member of your family.

  1. Hydrate. Drink gallons and gallons of water. As we know, the human needs 8-10 glasses of liquid especially water for proper hydration. Water cleanses the body and detoxify it which means you will have to release fluid through urination. More water means cleansing and more urination that will help wash away the bacteria in the bladder. The only thing is, you will have to visit the toilet more often and you don’t want that to happen because it is painful to urinate. Well, there is no sweet cure in every disease. If you can’t bear the pain, you can opt to take paracetamol.
  2. Drink cranberry juice.  Many home remedy articles says that cranberry juice is good for UTI but doesn’t really explain why. Well, cranberry juices acidify urine or makes it more acidic. This condition will help kill the bacteria that lives in an alkalinic environment.
  3. Proper hygiene. For women, it is important to practice front to back wiping of the perineum to prevent bacteria to enter the urethral opening.
  4. Diet. Avoid foods and drink that will irritate your bladder like alcohol and coffee.
